Transportation Services
Transportation should not be a barrier to receiving care. AIDS Project New Haven’s free transportation program supports clients’ ongoing participation in HIV primary care and supportive services. Eligible clients who are able to ride public transportation, but do not have the financial resources to pay for it, are provided with bus passes. Our “Spirit of Life” van transports eligible clients who are unable to ride public transportation due to physical limitations, health concerns and other issues.
Eligibility is limited to the clients of AIDS service organizations in greater New Haven who are unable to access government and other transportation subsidies, and is based on income and/or ability to ride public transportation. Bus passes and rides are provided for primary medical care appointments and psychosocial supportive services: mental health, support groups, complementary alternative therapy, legal and other encounters which provide the support needed to keep our clients in care.
Though advance notice is requested for most appointments, APNH is able to transport clients to emergency medical appointments in as little as fifteen minutes.
Please call your case manager at 203-624-0947 for further eligibility requirements or to arrange a ride.
